Description
Stack Guillotine Cutters are able to slice through 400 sheets (1.5" thick) in one pass. The built-in heavy-duty clamp puts even pressure across the entire cut area to eliminate paper shift and drag. This model features a 12" cut length from front to back, large enough to cut posters and larger books. Our unique hinge system multiplies leverage from the handle to the blade, reducing the strength required to cut through even an entire phonebook to near nothing. De-bind entire books with ease, saving time and energy. Solid steel construction ensures this cutter will last a long time, and you'll be able to tell the moment you pick it up. Rubber feet at each corner stop the cutter from sliding during use, and a removable handle allows for easier storage.

Very good product with replaceable blade. But I think you need to buy blade if you want to replace it.It cut huge sheets of paper like butter.I strongly recommend the product. The basic design of the Texalan is well thought out. The whole unit is covered with a durable, high-gloss coating with printed grids of both US and European paper sizing in a light color against a dark background (it's gorgeous). The safety features are excellent. It's light enough that I can move it if necessary, but heavy enough to stay put when in use. Some things to consider: The high gloss finish creates reflections between the horizontal and vertical surfaces. Consider this when setting up your lighting. (I think it would help if the imperial and metric grids were different colors, since they are positioned very close to each other.) The sliding arm that positions the paper parallel to the blade is a bit wobbly. Merely tightening the knob that holds it in place is not enough; to prevent a crooked cut, the free end of the guide has to be held down firmly while tightening the knob. Two rulers imprinted on the plate make it easy to line up the arm. Over all, I'm glad I bought it--it's built to last! This is a fabulous cutter however a few things to mention. You have to put on the corner bumpers on the bottom which isn’t a big deal and discard the long plastic pieces that already come in the machine. I don’t know why this isn’t done in the packaging. Also the handle for the paper press hold is installed backwards which you have to take off and flip around. I had several screw lost in the bottom of the box which thankful I found them all to put back on the machine. They may have fallen out in delivery. Which probably wouldn’t have happened if they were properly tightened before packaging. Another issue I had was that the entire machine was covered in a light grease of some kind. I had to throughly wipe the whole thing down before using. Almost like a clear oil. Aside from all this the cutter cuts perfectly, the blade was sharp and had no trouble cutting through a pretty large amount of paper cleanly and most importantly straight. This the a workhorse and not for someone who just needs a simple paper cutter for projects. This is specifically designed for large stacks of paper or even book spines. I am super happy with it however some work could be improved on the assembly and shipping of the product. Also it would have been helpful to have instructions and parts listing sent with the machine. I know it a paper cutter and roughly how it works but it would have been nice to see all the listed features. For example I didn’t know the finger guard could be removed until I tried cutting for the first time or that the paper “tray” folded down like it does. Most people would know that already I suppose but this was my first time using something like this and it would have been helpful especially when I had to assembly a lot of screws upon arrival. Over all so far a great cutter. It would also be helpful to has some type of instructions on how to change the blade when that time comes. That I have a feeling will be quite the chore. This was a gift that was purchased for a family member that hand makes books. She was having to take her projects down to the local prison to have them trimmed. If they messed up, then an entire project was ruined and she'd have to start over. The family all went in together to buy her this so she could do her own. She loves it. It's convenient...saving her so much time. I haven't heard one complaint about it.Right off the bat, it was great. But I have a few issues that I can't get over. Strangely, I really need a good manual, or the company website, or even a company that I can find. No instructions on how to properly adjust it. The clamp is out of adjustment after a few dozen cuts. The safety mechanism is now broken, the plate wobbles too much and the pin bent, with the long arm, you get lots of torque and don't realize it. Taking it apart isn't exactly the safest thing to do, but if you have to adjust the clamp, the units weight (40+ pounds) will get to you. So without a safety catch (the pin isn't replaceable) it still works great. The cutter is very tight, so it won't lower without you trying. Without instructions, I haven't figured out how to replace the plastic piece the cutter lands on, I think they call it a file (don't know why). Back to the available torque due to the long arm, it easily cuts through any stack of paper I've fed it. Seems the bigger the stack, the better it cuts, and cleanly. The only thing to knock is the lack of a good manual and a better safety, I didn't realize it was messed up till it was too late.Where have you been all my life? My only regret is that I didn't buy this guillotine years ago. Excelkent value, excellent quality, easy to use, excellent results. We host a large raffle and each year it takes us hours to accurately cut thousands of tickets using a standard paper cutter. This year we used our new guillotine and the job was done in less than 10 minutes! I was pleasantly pleasantly surprised at how easy this was to use and even more impressed by the precision of the cut. Me gusto todo, fácil de usar, su precio accesible, la recomiendo muchoUpdate: -1 starSo I've put it to use with 50 sheets of 90lb sketch paper and it the cuts are very clean. I do have a big issue with it though.. the fence bar is not straight. If you tighten it then the bar goes crooked along the measurement lines making it hard to tell if you're a few mm off or not. Then If you do tighten it so that the fence bar completely straight along the guide lines then the paper doesn't fit into the tray comfortably (not a complete 90 degree angle) and you'll get a crooked cut. So that's going to be a bit of a problem that I'll have to work through.. I'll likely figure out a work-around but as of now I have no idea what. If you look at the 4th photo down in the photos of the product you'll see what I mean about the bar not lining up with the guidelines.Prev. review:I'll update my review after I put it to use but I just wanted to add one now for shipping. I received this the next day! Packed well for protection, the lady at the post office dropped in twice apparently (it's huge and heavy) before giving it to me but the guillotine was enclosed a sturdy styrofoam casing inside the box that kept it completely safe from damage. So far I'm just loving how it looks in my office. :)This is great for many purposes, but I found the plastic guide to be unstable and not even straight when tightened. If you want super straight, 90-degree angled cuts, it may not be great (or at least I haven't figured it out yet). The biggest disappointment for me was that I couldn't even see the cut line! There's a faint mark on the red strip where the blade comes down on but the blade blocks a perfect view of it. I thought at first the cut line would be right at the edge of the paper clamp, but the blade is actually slightly offset from it so trying to freehand any kind of cutting is impossible. The ruler guide is also not very accurate either and paired with an unstable guide it's not even worth using the ruler.I make memo pads that require precise cuts but I guess I can still cut perfect squares with my cutting machine and trim the edges with this paper cutter... which is kind of overkill just for trimming edges...
